Solar Solutions for a Resilient Farming Future

As a subcontractor for Synthesis, we delivered a full 1MW DC ground-mount solar installation with 1.2MW AC (2 x 630kW Atess PCS) inverters and a 2.1MW battery storage solution. Our team managed every element of the installation, from trenching and containerised battery systems to ground-mount structures, under extremely challenging conditions during the heavy rainy season.

We completed a multi-site installation for Kwandwe Game Farm, delivering turnkey solar solutions across four remote lodge sites, each with its own distinct energy profile and backup needs. We handled the full installation from start to finish, including all trenchwork, under some truly wild conditions (yes, lions were nearby).

With rising energy costs, Zumbani Farming needed a solution built for resilience. We installed a 500kW DC grid-tied system with genset integration, providing a stable, cost-effective energy supply for their daily operations. To maximise space and functionality, the client constructed an open storage structure for their trucks and equipment, using the solar modules as the roofing solution. Clean power, smart design, and zero compromise on performance.

Subcontracted by SPS, we completed the full installation of a 464.34 kW grid-tied system for Highveld Mushrooms. From start to finish, our team managed the on-site execution, ensuring a reliable, efficient solar setup to support this high-demand agricultural operation.

With grid instability threatening daily operations, Houghamdale Dairy turned to Luken Solar for a reliable energy solution. We installed a 306kW DC ground mount system, powered by 250kW HPs Atess inverters and 400kW of Freedom Won batteries—housed in a custom-built structure on-site. The result? A steady, alternative energy supply that keeps this dairy farm running, regardless of Eskom.

To help Waterlea Dairy Farm reduce costs and secure a more reliable energy supply, we installed a 306 kW DC ground mount system with 3 x HPS150 inverters and a 400 kW Freedom Won battery solution. The system provides a stable alternative to the unreliable grid and ensures uninterrupted power for day-to-day farming operations, keeping critical systems running, even during outages.

Glen Roy Abattoir was facing frequent Eskom power outages and rising, unpredictable diesel generator costs. Their operations rely on pumps, motors, and refrigeration systems, which made the power instability a serious risk to productivity and profitability. They needed a reliable, site-specific energy solution to stabilise costs and ensure operational continuity.

Attwell Citrus, a leading citrus producer in Kirkwood, required a solar system that could meet the heavy daytime load of packing facilities and cold storage. We delivered a high-capacity, grid-tied solution that maximises self-consumption during peak harvest periods. The result: a more sustainable operation with predictable energy costs and improved resilience against grid instability – essential for the export-focused agricultural sector.

With grid instability threatening production and operating costs on the rise, Green’s Sawmills needed a more reliable, cost-effective energy strategy. We installed a 240 kW DC ground-mounted solar system with integrated diesel generator backup, designed to keep operations running smoothly, even during outages, while significantly cutting electricity costs.

Luken Solar installed a 176 kW grid-tied solar system for Supa Value George, strategically split between rooftop and ground mount installations. The system includes Genset integration to reduce diesel consumption during daytime generator use. The client was focused on cutting operational costs, improving power stability, and achieving up to 70% reduction in diesel use during peak hours.

To help Salt Pans Drift secure power stability and long-term savings, Luken Solar installed a 30kW DC ground-mounted system, added to an existing 120kW DC setup, paired with a robust 200kW battery backup. The result: lower electricity costs, a more stable grid experience, and uninterrupted operations when Eskom drops.

To support the high energy demands of irrigation systems and cold storage on this Eastern Cape farm, we designed and installed a reliable hybrid solar solution. The system stabilises power supply during load shedding, reduces diesel generator use, and delivers long-term savings across seasonal operations.
